Learning and Development

The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS).

Promoting learning and development through a broad and balanced range of adult-led and child initiated play opportunities. Our aim is to provide a fun and stimulating environment that encourages children to develop fundamental skills such as confidence, language and independence.

We believe that all children deserve the best possible start in life, in order for them to fulfil their potential. We plan around children’s individual interests and needs, involving them in the process, through observations and discussions. You will find a copy of our planning sheets displayed in the rooms and parents will be asked for their input when it is time to plan for their child.

Planning is used only as a guideline and staff offer frequent opportunities for spontaneous play and learning, as children’s interests are constantly changing. We are confident that children are their own experts in learning and we allow them to lead adults in new discoveries and challenges. The adults ensure that learning opportunities are purposeful.

We encourage parental involvement by inviting them into the setting to participate in various activities such as reading stories, creative activities and nursery trips. We also provide information and ideas on how to encourage learning at home. The nursery also arranges a number of sessions from outside agencies, such as ‘Latino Bambino’, ‘Sports School’ and ‘Wild Fang’.
